Nobody thinks about gutters unless you need them during a storm. However, when thinking about installing gutters on your home, you should really consider the size of the gutter. Most of your hometown supply houses have ten-foot sticks of five-inch gutters. Although something is better than nothing; having cheap, builders’ grade, material on your home, is asking for more trouble than it’s worth. We’re talking about your home. The number one place that you work so hard to call yours. If proper water displacement is NOT on your “to-do” list, then, by all means, carry on; however, if you DO understand the importance of gutters and the benefit of proper water displacement then keep on moving these eyeballs of yours to read more.

The wider the gutter the better the displacement shall be in a storm. The last thing that you want is to have a thin gutter when a storm rounds its way to your house. You don’t want to have the water pour over the edge of the gutter, that defeats the purpose. The ten-foot sticks that you get from your local supply chain, will have to be sealed at each end. This means that it isn’t a seamless gutter. The more joints that you have in the gutter structure the more potential that structure will have to leak. The leaking at each joint will again defeat the purpose. You do want a seamless gutter wrapped around your home as continuous and with as few joints as you can. With our continuous six-inch “k” style gutter, you will not run into those problems and the water will displace as it is directed.

The seamless gutters that we install will have joints in them too, usually in corners when we cut in an angle around your home. Our number of joints may be fewer than standard builder’s grade however having a roof that requires absolutely no joints is extremely rare. We carefully assemble joints, and we have multiple ways of sealing the gutter for you to choose. Like anything else, we have good, better, and best. We intend on sealing the joints to the best of our ability and installing gutters to code. In our experience code isn’t always good enough to make the desired outcome come to life. We want you to remain happy with the products you choose.

The downspouts to your gutter system are just as important as the gutter itself. These vertical tubes control the fall of the water to the location that you desire. If one becomes detached from the gutter system, then what’s the point of having gutters? We must make sure that they are properly strapped to the house. While mentioning strapping, it would be wise to mention that gutters should be strapped to the fascia often to prevent bending and warping. At any point if you install a gutter system poorly, you might as well save the money for the foundation repair that you are sure to have.
