What is Insurance Fraud?

Insurance fraud is an attempt to exploit an insurance contract. Insurance is meant to protect against risks, not serve as a vehicle to enrich the insured.  Insurance fraud by the policy issuer does occur, although the majority of cases have to do with the policyholder attempting to receive more money by exaggerating a claim.

With a home or any project that has a claim, this can be done by simply claiming that there is a problem, asking your insurance company to reimburse your for said project, and not completing the task which they have distributed money to repair. For instance: If you did file a roofing claim and along with that claim your insurance pays for a window screen, repairs to sheetrock, and siding. You gladly replace the roof, but neglect to repair or replace any of the other mentioned items, and still accept funds for those items, THAT is insurance fraud.

Some fly by night roofing companies will make, what we call, a hustling offer. “We’ll replace the roof and not do the window screen, repair the sheetrock, or the siding. That will cover your deductible.” These guys are “Fly-by-night roofing companies”. These low-level companies will ignore your deductible,
use cheaper parts, that probably won’t match, and these guys will walk away from you as soon as they get your money. If you ask around, Roofing companies are NOT all the same. Q17 Roofing will guide you through the process, make all the repairs that are needed, and give you quality customer service. The best part, we’ll be here years from now to ensure that if you ever need anything to do with your roof, we’ll be around to come back by and give our neighbors a hand. If you want a company that will help you through any portion of your project, please call today. One of our technicians will be glad to assist you with this process.

Story Time:
We had 3 homes that were next door to one another. One of the homeowners decided to not follow our instruction. This client didn’t want to pay the deductible, didn’t want to upgrade, and didn’t want to complete everything on the summary. To avoid any issues that could happen over time, we reluctantly dismissed ourselves and we allowed him to go his own way. Q17 Roofing believes that everyone can choose who works for them; however, buyer be-ware. The company that was chosen to replace us didn’t use matching shingles, still used paper felt, without going into all the missed opportunities, this roof does not look very good. We can only hope that the roof displaces the water for our neighbor and doesn’t cause anymore issues.
